Short answer
A digital maturity assessment is an evaluation of a company’s digital development — how widely and effectively it uses digital tools, data and automation. In Latvia it is offered by the European Digital Innovation Hub; in LIAA’s 2023 digitalisation programme it was a prerequisite for applying, and companies received a digital development roadmap as a result.
What it assesses
It usually assesses the company’s digital strategy, processes, use of data, staff skills, cybersecurity and use of technology, such as automation and artificial intelligence.
Why it’s useful even without funding
- It shows where the company lags behind and where the biggest potential is.
- It helps set priorities — where to start.
- It gives arguments to management and investors.
The link with LIAA
In LIAA’s 2023 digitalisation programme, companies had to take a digital maturity test at a European Digital Innovation Hub before applying, and they also received a digital development roadmap there. Requirements can differ from programme to programme, so they have to be checked in the rules of the specific round.
A practical next step
After the assessment, choose one or two processes with the biggest impact and prepare a concrete project — see how to prepare an IT project for a funding application.
