Short answer
A dealer management system (DMS) is software for companies that sell through dealers or are dealers themselves — for example, in the car or agricultural machinery industry. It brings together customers, vehicles or machines, orders, quotes, service and communication with the importer or manufacturer.
What a DMS usually includes
- Management of customers and leads (the CRM part).
- Tracking of machinery or vehicles.
- Quotes, contracts and orders.
- Order approval between the dealer and the importer.
- Service and spare parts tracking.
- Integrations with accounting and state registers.
Our experience
- Moller Baltic Import — a system in which more than 40 VW and Audi dealers in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia create and agree orders with an automatic approval workflow. The first version went live after 5 months.
- Valtek — a dealer management system in the agricultural machinery industry, integrated with Horizon, the VTUA machinery database, the Lursoft herd register and the LAD land parcel register.
Why a DMS is often custom-built
Every industry and every dealer network has its own rules, prices and registers. Off-the-shelf DMS products are often designed for a specific manufacturer or country, so a custom system can match the way you work more closely. On registers: how to integrate with state registers.
