About the project
The appointment management application makes it possible to schedule visits at every embassy and consulate of the Republic of Latvia. The system itself finds and offers the nearest time when the chosen service or services are available. Embassy staff manage bookings and the services provided.
The system is used both by large embassies with several service points and by smaller ones. Each embassy can configure it for its own needs.
The scheduling algorithm
The algorithm works across time zones. If several people choose services at the same time, the system offers the nearest time when they can all be served in one visit. For example, two family members need two different services — the system finds a time when both are available, so neither has to wait for the other.
The challenge
The embassies are spread across very different time zones — one of them is always working. That’s why updates and improvements have to be rolled out without disrupting the embassies’ work.
